Intro to Screenprinting

Description: This 9-week class is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of silkscreen and its versatility. Through the course of three projects, we will explore new methods and build up skill intentionally. Beginning with the basics, we will move through mastering layer usage and registration into the effective application of advanced techniques, such as split fountain and CMYK. There will be emphasis on visual language and use of multiple techniques to create dialogue within the work. Students are encouraged to apply these processes to real-world/ personal projects in or outside of class. In addition to in class time, non-members receive 27 hours of open studio time; additional hours may be purchased as needed. Instructor Bio: Chloe Crookall is an interdisciplinary artist living in New York City. She holds a BFA from Syracuse University and is currently the Studio Manager at the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University. She has worked at several studios across the city, including the Lower East Side Printshop, EFA Robert Blackburn Workshop for Print Studies, and Scratch Ceramics. Through printmaking, ceramics, painting, and textiles, she explores ideas of duty and home--attempting to remain playful and curious in the face of exponential change. Cancellation Policy STUDENT CLASS CANCELLATION If a student must drop out of a class, 75% of tuition will be refunded as long as MGC is notified 15 days or more prior to the start date of the class. If a student notifies MGC fewer than 15 days prior, no tuition can be refunded. Materials fee are non-refundable. If MGC cancels the class, registrants receive a full refund or studio credit.
